The Inaugural AI 4 X Conference - the premier gathering of researchers who revolutionize Natural Science with Artificial Intelligence (AI) - will be held in Singapore on the 8th – 11th July 2025.

In recent years, the field of AI has experienced astonishing development at a rapid pace. AI is increasingly being integrated into fundamental research methodologies. Leveraging the power of AI greatly enhances the efficiency and speed at which research is conducted. However, of greater importance is the ability of scientists to incorporate human creativity and rigour together with the power and tools that AI can offer. AI 4 X 2025 aims to bolster and refine the use of AI research in Natural Sciences, thereby accelerating scientific discovery and translational potential on all fronts.

The event will bring together an exceptional panel of invited speakers from diverse disciplines, who will share their unique perspectives on Natural Science with AI, along with their visions for the future. A rigorously reviewed selection of contributed talks and posters will facilitate the free flow of people and ideas, and a tutorial track will feature hands-on in-depth workshops on practical and ready for use state-of-the-art methods. Industry leaders and companies who use AI for Science and R&D, as well as those who develop AI for science and scientists will also be invited to participate and share their knowledge, products, and services.

AI 4 X 2025 is jointly organised by the Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (I-FIM) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), together with the National Research Foundation of Singapore (NRF) and the DSO National Laboratories. The strong tripartite alliance reflects the relevance and importance of the field in global research and sets the stage for a continuing series of annual conferences dedicated to this theme.

Organizers

The Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (I-FIM), launched on 7 October 2021 at the National University of Singapore, is the world's first institute dedicated to the development of Functional Intelligent Materials (FIMs). Led by Nobel Laureate Professor Sir Konstantin Novoselov and Distinguished Professor Antonio Castro Neto, I-FIM aims to revolutionize materials research by creating a library of designer materials and developing predictive models for FIM behavior using machine learning and robotics. These smart materials have diverse applications, including targeted drug delivery, artificial tissues, and energy storage. I-FIM also offers an advanced graduate training program to cultivate the next generation of material scientists.

The NUS Artificial Intelligence Institute, established on 25 March 2024, brings together AI researchers across the whole of NUS. It encompasses basic and applied research in AI along with research into societal implications of AI. The foundational research combined with deep domain expertise aims to harness AI for public good.

The National Research Foundation, Singapore (NRF), set up on 1 January 2006, is a department within the Prime Minister’s Office. The NRF sets the national direction for research and development (R&D) by developing policies, plans and strategies for research, innovation and enterprise. It also funds strategic initiatives and builds up R&D capabilities by nurturing research talent.

DSO National Laboratories (DSO) is Singapore’s largest defence research and development (R&D) organisation, with the critical mission to develop technological solutions to sharpen the cutting edge of Singapore's national security.

Established in 1972, DSO has evolved from a three-member team to more than 1,600 research scientists and engineers working across the domains of land, sea, air, space and cyberspace.
