Tutorial Expectations

Tutorials should be of interest to a substantial portion of the AI4X-AC community and should represent a sufficiently mature area of research or practice. Tutorials are expected to be accessible to PhD candidates from other subfields, i.e. some part of the tutorial may need to be spent on covering necessary background material.

An AI4X-AC tutorial should present a balanced overview of the research landscape of the chosen area of research by highlighting established results, open problems, and include perspectives from the wider community in that field. It should not focus on the results or tools of the presenters or their organizations.

We encourage submitters to consider how their materials will remain useful to the community after the event, for example by providing links to code, slides and exercises or audio-only presentations. We will send out audio recordings to tutorial presenters after the conference and presenters will be free to modify the recordings or send out additional information for conversion into a podcast format (depending on topic).

Tutorials may optionally conclude with a discussion panel featuring additional researchers from the field and a moderator to broaden the conversation.

Tutorial Format

Tutorial Duration: Each tutorial will be at least 2 hours and 30 minutes (150 minutes).
Main Presentation: At least 2 hours (120 minutes) dedicated to the main presentation, including 10 minutes for technical Q&A.
Presenters: Minimum of 1 and a maximum of 3 presenters per tutorial.

(Optional) Panel Discussion: 20–30 minute panel at the end, featuring up to 6 participants (including the moderator) representing diverse perspectives. The panel should represent diverse perspectives. While the exact structure of the panel is up to you, we encourage a (civil/professional) debate format representing different perspectives in the community.

What Makes a Strong Tutorial Proposal

• Importance, relevance and timeliness of the topic to the AI4X-AC community
• A diverse set of speakers. We encourage speakers from different institutes with a variety of perspectives to reduce knowledge bias.
• Speakers should be experienced in the topic proposed, as demonstrated by publications and talks.
• Quality of the presentation; clear delivery of the content.

Submission Instructions

Please use the official templates and follow the formatting instructions provided: Word, LaTeX. Do not exceed the 5-page limit or modify fonts, margins, or line spacing. Non-compliant submissions may be desk-rejected.

We look forward to your contributions in making AI4X-AC 2026 a platform for insightful discussions and pioneering advancements in AI applications across natural sciences.
