AI4X 2027 · Bremen
AI4X is the leading conference for AI in science and deep-tech applications. Jointly organised by the Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (I-FIM) at the National University of Singapore and Constructor University, AI4X 2027 opens with a two-day Tutorial Weekend (12-13 June 2027), followed by a four-day conference (14-17 June 2027) on the Constructor University campus in Bremen, Germany.
After two editions in Singapore - the inaugural AI4X 2025 and AI4X - Accelerate Conference 2026, organised with the Acceleration Consortium at the University of Toronto - AI4X 2027 is the first European edition of the conference. It reaches students, researchers, industry, government and thought leaders worldwide.
In recent years, the field of AI, machine learning and self-driving labs has advanced at a breathtaking pace. The power of AI greatly enhances the efficiency and speed of research. The ability of scientists to merge human creativity and rigour with the computational power and tools of AI has led to an unprecedented acceleration of discovery.
AI4X grew out of applying AI to the natural sciences. Leading scientists present new research in a programme curated by experts across disciplines, sharing how they see science with AI and where it goes next.
Pushing AI further in science takes more than research. It needs the companies and decision-makers who put results to work, so AI4X brings them into the same room as the scientists.
The week opens with two days of workshops on practical, state-of-the-art methods, for students and researchers as well as engineers and R&D teams.
AI4X 2027 expects 800+ participants and an exceptional line-up of invited speakers, with a programme spanning 21 topics - from physics, chemistry and materials science to medicine, climate, finance and society.
Constructor University is a private, English-language research university in Bremen, Germany, and part of Constructor Knowledge within the Constructor Group. Founded in 2001, it is one of the most international universities worldwide, with more than 2,000 students from over 120 countries living and studying on its 34-hectare residential campus. Its interdisciplinary Bachelor's, Master's and PhD programs span science, computer science and engineering, and business and social sciences, with students involved in research from early on. The university publishes more than 350 peer-reviewed papers a year and works with over 1,000 academic and industry partners. In the 2027 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, it rose to the 376-400 band, making it one of the fastest-rising universities worldwide, and it remains the best-ranked private university in Germany. Since February 2026, the university has been led by Professor Sir Konstantin Novoselov, Nobel Laureate in Physics 2010, who is also Chair of AI4X 2027.
The Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (I-FIM) was established in 2021 at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Funded by $100 million from Singapore's Ministry of Education (MOE) and $100 million from NUS, the Institute is home to a team of 18 resident academic investigators and their groups, working towards the goal of creating a library of designer materials - and developing systematic ways to describe them mathematically - as the building blocks of FIMs. Using machine learning and robotics, the FIMs will be designed and synthesised with smart applications in mind. These applications could range from neuromorphic computers, to machine vision, smart membranes, smart catalysts, artificial tissues, and more.
